About

This blog was created in 2012 without much intent. In 2013, the blog was revamped and devoted to publishing and sharing inspirational, encouraging, challenging, focused material to help women hone their vision for fulfilling their God-bestowed role of womanhood by glorifying His name throughout the world and pursuing Spirit-filled living: holiness, gentleness, courage, Christ-like character and practical application of the God's living and powerful word, the Bible.

I began a discipleship group with four teen girls in January 2013. By February, our online circle of young women had grown to nine members. This blog is where I share some of the thoughts, prayers, and lessons learned that I share with them every day. It is my prayer that you would find here comfort and inspiration for your journey, if you are already a Christian, and if you are not--I pray you will realize your desperate, precarious position before God as a sinner, guilty of missing the perfect mark, and come to repent of your sins, taking for your own the gift of God's grace--who pardons sins and "remembers them no more," through the atoning death and resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ, on your behalf.

If you aren't interested in that God stuff--OK. All you have to do to make sure you get into heaven is this:

--Never swear or curse (ever), never disrespect your parents (no exceptions), never lust (wow), never steal (even the tiniest thing), never lie (even a white little half-truth or exaggeration), never ever be jealous of anything or anyone (for a fuller list see Exodus 20:2-17).

If you've never broken any of these stipulations even once in your entire life, and you never ever do, you're good to go. Problema resuelto.

Problem: We're guilty. (Romans 3:23)

Problem: We're really guilty, and here's a list that describes what's hiding in our sinful hearts: Romans 3:10-18. Well, that's disturbing.

Problem: Crime deserves punishment. (Romans 6:23)

Hmmm. We definitely have a problem.

This is very bad news, and it's easy to be afraid. Be afraid. You should be.

Isn't there any good news? This is scaring me.

Actually, yes. There is good news. Very good news . . .

Good news: Someone paid your debt. Romans 5:8

Good news: You can be saved. Romans 10:9

Good news: God listens. Romans 10:13

More Good news: You can have real peace (not hippie-free-love-counterfeit peace). Romans 5:1

Even More Good News: Once saved, you aren't guilty anymore. Romans 8:1

Best News Yet: Nothing can undo the gift of salvation once you've accepted it. Romans 8:38-39

There is no magic, no secret club, no gimmicks to be saved--if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ has made right your terrible debt, you will be saved. But you must first understand how desperately wicked the human heart is without Jesus Christ. You must understand the magnitude of your sins--and if you aren't saved, those sins are rightfully tallied and held against you. Make no mistake--you will stand before God one day and try to explain that awful list of your wickedness (regardless of whether you believed in his existence or not). Just because you don't believe it doesn't make it false.

Becoming a Christian does not make your life easier. It won't make you wealthier or more popular. It won't make your problems vanish. Being a Christian sometimes makes life harder because most people out there hate God and hate those who love him. But, becoming a Christian makes life better because you know, rock-solid, 100%, no-shadow-of-a-doubt, that you are right before God and heaven-bound. You are given a peace that unsaved people cannot understand, and you have a new friendship with God that is beautiful and precious. True Christians have a joy that simply cannot be stomped out, no matter how terribly they are treated. They adore their Savior and they love to tell other people about his wonderful grace.

If you think you've met Christians but they don't sound anything like what I've just described, then you probably haven't met a real one yet. There are a lot of fakers out there, hoping this Christian thing will give them a buzz, make their problems disappear, give them power, etc. Don't let their hypocrisy and sin send you to hell too. They will answer for themselves, but you won't be able to blame them when your turn comes.

You've probably got a lot of questions. Maybe these sites can help you. Don't sweep this issue under the rug, friend. Our lives could be snuffed out any moment. You or I could be killed on the freeway this afternoon. What then? Study out these things and see for yourself whether they are true or not. Don't take my word for it. Ask hard questions. There are answers.
